Hey, I’m Kara, also known as Household6!

I’m a wife, mom of two, Veteran-turning farmer, entrepreneur, sewist, flea market and antique shop scourer and gardener. I love all things DIY, line-dried sheets, animals, sun tea, the smell of freshly cut grass, crisp Autumn mornings, the feel of sun-warmed dirt between my toes and hot cups of coffee, just about any time.

Our Story

I grew up in the country as the oldest of three girls and loved everything about my childhood. Following college, both my husband and I joined the Army and eventually met on Active Duty in Germany. Now, 10 years, two kids, two dogs, four moves, three countries and three states later, we’re looking toward our future and making plans. I’ve always dreamed of returning to my roots and raising my children with the same experiences I remember and cherish. Our intent with this blog is to document our transition from Army family to civilian homesteading life. So come along for the journey and watch as we start a new chapter!
